At the young age of 9, she was doodling on a membership card during a church service and a teacher took notice and offered art lessons in her home. Aenona Harper was an early artistic influence on her and Kelly learned mediums ranging from watercolor to oils and her love of painting became a life-long passion.
As a professional learner, she has attended several colleges obtaining a degree in Paralegal Studies, and studied Journalism at The University of Texas and Illustration at Nossi College of Art. She worked jobs continuously starting at age 14, and all during her academic career ranging from janitor, waitress, paralegal, editor, and graphic artist.
As a graphic designer, Kelly has worked for an oil and gas company and a variety of small businesses designing logos. Her heart is with non-profits and she has designed a bus wrap and enjoys working with a wide variety of mediums beyond paint. Her personal style is rustic and authentic and paints people, animals, and landscapes.
Every day that you spend either fishing or painting is a good day. I don’t fish nearly as often these days, but as long as I can draw and paint, life is good. I am very grateful to Carpe Artista to have the opportunity to give back to the community by teaching. She believes that the most important thing that you can do every day is pray and read your Bible.
